Network Icon is missing after Avast home installation
« on: December 04, 2008, 03:28:40 AM »
Why is my network icon missing after installation of Avast home V4.8? Everything is back to normal, after Avast uninstallation. When I try to re-install it, the network icon (wireless, LAN, and dial-up networking) disappear again. My OS is Windows XP SP2. Please help me to solve this problem, because I see that the configuration can work fine in another computer.

Are you sure the network icon is not just hidden? Is there a little arrow near the clock? If so, click on it.

Check this:
control panel > network connections > network connections > right click the network and make sure you have ticked "show icon in the system tray"
If it is already ticked, disable it, reboot, then reenable it.
(ofcourse with avast installed)

Try Eddy's suggestions... avast should do nothing with the network icon... never heard or see anything related to that...
