Stops after finding first virus
« on: December 05, 2008, 05:50:39 AM »
Hi frnds

My Problem is when i start scanning any of the external/internal folder, after detecting the first virus, AVAST automatically shows that scanned 100% and stops even though files are remaining in that folder.
Therefor i need to rescan the folder again n again till it scans full 100%.

wot to do?????????

Hi...

Please try running an online scan here first...

http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/

You might want to download and run these rootkit scanners as well...

F-Secure's Blacklight...

http://www.f-secure.com/security_center/

(scroll down to "downloads.")

Trend Micro Rootkit-Buster...

http://www.trendmicro.com/download/rbuster.asp

I would also recommend this regimen from Tech, another member of this forum. Go to the fourth post at this thread...

Hope this helps. :)

Best Regards...

Try a boot time scan with avast! Right click the scanner screen, select 'schedule a boot time scan' and reboot when requested. (Or open the tab at the top left of the scanner screen and select the boot time option from there.)

When it finishes, post the log file:

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\Data\Report\ashboot.txt

Scheduling the Boot Time Scan in details...

Click on the Menu button.
Choose Schedule Boot Time Scan.
Doing so displays a dialog allowing you to schedule virus scanning.
Check Archives, if you want scan all the archives.
Specify whether all the disks or just a specific folder should be scanned.
Select Advanced options for scheduling details.
Select how to automatically process infected files (suggestion: send to Chest)
Choose how to automatically process infected system files (suggestion: ignore/do nothing)
Click the Schedule button to confirm the settings.
