Difference between torrent and normal downloads?
« on: December 07, 2008, 10:17:04 AM »
What is a torrent download? does it have anything different then a normal download would have. I find more torrents that I can't find as an actual .exe or something.

A torrent file is basically a list of parts. Activating the torrent in a client begins to download and upload those parts.

EDIT: A torrent.exe file may be a torrent file plus a stand-alone torrent clent. Or it may be malware. The first torrent.exe file I found was a nasty:

That is absolutely the worst attitude to take to an .exe.   :o

Nearly everythings exe. anything can give you a virus. Torrents don't seem to work for me anyway. Always has red in availability, no matter what it is

You need to setup your hardware/software firewall to allow connections to pass through...
