I recently downloaded Avast! home version and after a little difficulty, finally managed to get Avast! to work properly with both PopFile and SpamPal on multiple email accounts. So, I figured that I'd pass on my configuration so anyone else having difficulty with this would have an easier time of it.
[[disclaimer: this is probbaly not the optimal solution, but it does seem to work for me]]
Pre-Avast! proxy chain:
Eudora <==> PopFile <==> SpamPal <==> Server
Post-Avast! proxy chain:
Eudora <==> PopFile <==> Avast! <==> SpamPal <==> Server
Popfile is running on port 8080, and listening on port 110
Spampal listens on port 111 and uses port 25 for SMTP
Avast! listens on port 113 and uses port 26 for SMTP
[[I've also got YahooPops listening on port 112]]
Eudora setup:
incoming server = 127.0.0.1
outgoing server = 127.0.0.1
login : 127.0.0.1:113%<username>@<server>
from avast.ini file:
[MailScanner]
Trust=127.0.0.1
DefaultPopServer=127.0.0.1:111
DefaultSmtpServer=127.0.0.1:26
SmtpListen=127.0.0.1:25
PopListen=127.0.0.1:113
ImapListen=127.0.0.1:144
ShowTrayIcon=1
UseDefaultSmtp=0
AutoSetProtection=0
Log=20
StartSmtp=1
StartPop=1
StartImap=0
Like I said, it's probably not very pretty, but it works....
