Boot-Time Scan Results?
« on: February 26, 2009, 03:31:03 PM »
I had never done a boot-time scan so I tested it last night, and in the morning, there was no "scan log" as there usually is when I run Avast. Are the results saved somewhere in the Avast program files? The only thing I could find with readable results was a text file called, aswBoot, in the Report folder. This is what it said:

02/25/2009 23:07
Scan of all local drives

File C:\Download\Vegas Video 4.0 (115) + DVD.exe\Vegas Video 4.0 (115) + DVD\Manual\Vegas manual.pdf Error 42126 {RAR archive is corrupted.}
Number of searched folders: 9283
Number of tested files: 504860
Number of infected files: 0

That is the correct file, though you don't post the file type.

The actual file name is aswBoot.txt in the C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\DATA\report so it looks like you don't display known file types in explorer.

Nothing wrong in it, the reporting of a file that cant be scanned and the reason is normal.

Corrupted Archive file, this could simply mean that avast is unable to unpack it to scan the contents of the archive and assuming it is because it is corrupt. Even if it were corrupt there is nothing that a user can do to resolve any corruption, short of replacing the file. This I wouldn't recommend (especially if this is for archives in the \System Volume Information folder, part of the system restore function) unless you are getting problems relating to that file outside of the avast scan.
