What is the method for registering Avast Home on machine for Windows 7?  Windows 7 appears not to have Email program.  Tried downloading Windows Mail,  but would not install.  Avast Home works fine with Windows 7.

you probably can use an webmail-account that you can check your mails online... :)

or you use something like thunderbird (i never used it and can't say how it works).

I also use the beta of seven, but i have office (and so office outlook) installed and use it as my mail program...

If you don't have another email client, thunderbird, etc. try a free Yahoo web mail account as avast registration keys get through on that without anti-spam blocking them.

However, theoretically you don't have to do that, what is wrong with using your existing avast home key that you were sent for your previous install of avast Home ?

Well yes the machine does have Vista on it with proper registration for avast. I'm not sure "copy" would carry over to Windows 7 from Vista inas much each comes up sperately. And typing in the registration was always a hit/miss.  Using web mail I'll look into also.

My thanks to both of you for your responses.

Only a copy from the email registration to a notepad text file saved to a USB key would work as you have to boot into Windows 7 from Vista and any copy would be lost.

Solved this minor problem by downloading Thunderbird Email application.  Thanks again for suggestions.
