OK, a little explanation maybe...
The connection type is in the "Updates" section because that's the affected thing (updates). The configuration of the connection is done so that avast! knows how the updates should be performed (or rather detected). For the other functions, avast! doesn't care what connection you have.
As for the boot-time scan... I would call it the "feature name". Boot-time scanner is a special module (I think no other antivirus has it, though I may be wrong) that performs the scan before the operating system is fully loaded. In certain sense, it's different from the usual scanning (it has limited features, but on the other hand, it's more "powerful" because of the moment it's executed at).
You are right that your description may be somehow better, but this "feature name" would be somewhere else anyway.... maybe some additional explanation in the message window would be the best.
