                                        QUICK START GUIDE FOR BEGINNERS

NoScript is ready to use as soon as you install it. All JavaScripting, Flash, Silverlight, Java, and other commands to your browser are blocked by default. No configuration is required. When you visit a site and it seems not to work properly, click the arrow next to the NoScript logo in the top bar, or click the NoScript logo in the bottom bar, and read the list of scripts and other commands ("executable content"). Note that the NoScript logo is red, or partly red, instead of all blue, indicating some blocked content. See the site address from where they originate. If you trust that site (especially the site you are on), click "temporarily allow". It may require several scripts to be allowed for the function you need to work. Be very wary of content coming from third parties . When you have determined what you need to allow, you may click "permanently allow" if you wish, then you will never again notice NoScript at work while you are at that site. Soon, your most frequently-visited sites will become permanently configured for you.

If you like, you may choose to receive an audible warning, and/or a popup warning, when scripts or other content are being blocked. . NoScript is customizable in many other ways. As you become familiar with it, you might like to read more about its many features and configurability. But this is all you need to do to have NoScript start protecting you now!

I've never noticed No Script using my RAM 

I've just looked at my - Vista Sidebar Gadget...
41% RAM .. Being Used!
1261 MB .. Out Of .. 3068 MB

But that will be everything using that. ( e.g. Firefox, Avast .. & .. A lot of other stuff! )
I'm not an experienced computer user .. Just Average 
But I certainly haven't noticed No script taking a particular chunk of RAM.
Or making any other kinds of demands from my computers

He is just using that as an excuse not to have to install it, some are rather inventive.
There are even those that go barebacked onto the Internet because of loss of RAM, until they really start to loose it...

I thought perhaps YoKenny hadn't got much RAM .. So that's why he had concerns about it being used up  :'(

But I've Just Looked At His - Sig!
He's Got 4 GB  

I know we all like to see a bit of spare RAM ( RAM usage kept low )
But at some point...
RAM is for using ... Not saving up

If he only got 4 GB he'd better have a linux distro there would be more economical or a linux distro on a pendrive so he has his extra comp in his pocket. Some have to settle with 1 GB.
We had a 7 GB ME total mem, but now I am on Win XP and the wife's on Vista. No more like he uses IE7 (see his signature), which obviously can't use firefox add-ons.

The additional RAM used by firefox add-ons I would say is minimal, I have 25 running, 3 disabled and when you consider that is grouped together into one sum for firefox on the Task Manager it doesn't use that much at all.

If you wanted to go a step further start firefox (don't browse), check the memory used, close firefox and then run the safe mode version of firefox which starts without any add-ons enabled and check the figures again. That would give a reasonable idea of the RAM used by all your add-ons.

Personally I think that is a waste of time as the figures are small as with many people with 1GB plus they are a drop in the ocean.

I just posted this because the users that find this extension useful can get on with it quite easily, and yes in these times of ever-evolving online threats performed onto the browser NoScript is an essential non-failing in-browser Cop next to the avast Shields naturally, learning better browser attitudes can be a hurdle, and we are here to help users take these hurdles so that working NoScript becomes a second nature for them, non-founded remarks are not very helpful because they can put people off that believe such tales, and I thank you that you second me here. I think because certain scripts are not performed or cannot get "hung" Firefox with NoScript could even be a tiny bit faster actually, but I think the difference is ignorable especially with more than 2 GB under the hood.

What a problem blocking scripts into the browser? I can't see a resource hog here, on contrary, a very safe tool to use.

Gosh, me either. The HP Pavilion in my signature runs NoScript as one of the Firefox add-ons on Jaunty, and it's only got 512 meg of RAM.

(And yes, before anyone asks, any Linux distro runs just fine on that amount of RAM.)

Running Ubuntu 8.10 on an old lappy with 256MB- runs OK. Grinds to a halt when doing two things at once, but it always did.

I had a similar set-up to yours, but I had Hardy on it rather than Intrepid. It would run, but you could bog it down pretty quick, if you had more than a couple of programs running.

Then, one cold, snowy day, I installed Xubuntu Hardy on it (alternate CD for both installs), and I've still got it around here somewhere. Works like a champ.

I think YoKenny is alone here in his view of NoScript being heavy on the old cycles.
I think you haven't ever tried it, YoKenny, come on and run Firefox with NoScript installed and without and then clock the difference,
