Anyone Having this problem
« on: April 03, 2009, 04:01:01 PM »
I'm using Spyware Doctor ( non virus ) & Avast. In 2 forums pc tools & this one when I try to post the Web Shield performs some action that SD takes as a threat and blocks. If I make an advanced rule in Avast Web Shield to not scan these 2 forums everything works fine. SD log shows the problem as being a *.tmp file in the Avast folder that lives in WINNT/temp.
Anyone else?

Can you post the link to these forums? (not live links, but something edited to hxxp:// ... ).

Well you know the link to your own site. It happens when I try to log in.
Hasn't happened on any other sites or forums. Oddly both sites were it happens are security forums.
I don't want to mislead you but the only program I've installed recently is "Karen's directory Printer" I researched it first and it seemed OK & I downloaded it from Major Geeks site so should be fine. Just adding clues.

Here is the link to the PC Tools site. It only happens when to hit the submit button to enter a post.
hxxp://www.pctools.com/forum/

Other things I tried:

1. I uninstalled & reinstalled Avast.-no change
2. boot scan--clean no change
3. complete scan with Avast, SD, threatfire, all in regular mode and in Safe Mode---clean no change
4. Scan with march "windows malicious software removal tool"
5. Windows right up to date.
6. PC Tools firewall Plus

Very strange... neither of the other users are experiencing this...
Seems a false positive from Spyware Doctor and, probably, should be addressed by their site.

Karen's tools are clean ones.

Avast home will not completely scan an external hard drive, how can I fix that?

Better if you open your own thread for that, not hijack this one.
