Avast 4 Professional Edition

Instead of this forum, is there a live person (customer service) whom I can speak with?  I'm not too computer savvy....My current program is going to expire in mid-June and I just purchased another one... I downloaded it, but couldn't install it - there was no prompt to restart the computer, etc...  I'm just wondering if I should wait to install it AFTER my current program expires... I would rather just speak with a customer service rep like the "olden days"....  Thanks!

Well, did you insert the new license key into the program? (e.g. from About avast! / License key)

it didn't ask for the license key....and no prompt to do that either....thanks

You should really have kept this with your original topic because that tells the story why it didn't work, the presence of another AV. Which so far you haven't said what it is, so that we might help you.

I'm new to this forum and not too computer savvy - so I couldn't find my original post...anyway.... Avast 4.8 Professional is currently installed on my computer... It is supposed to expire in mid-June, so maybe I should just wait for it to expire, then try and re-install the new version(?)...

If you bought it then you would have got an email with your license so if you already had avast pro installed, you shouldn't have had to reinstall it again ?

So if avast was installed already and you downloaded it again and ran that all that would happen would be it would update any files (if they were out of date). So in this case it shouldn't need to reboot as all is already established (registry etc.).

So having renewed your avast pro license all you needed to do is enter the new license number that you got in the email, right click the avast 'a' icon, select About avast!. The window that opens will have License Key... button, now copy and paste the license key you should have received into that filed. Your existing license/installation should now be renewed for a further year.

Did you get that email with the license number ?

Thank you so much!  I followed your instructions and it worked.  Just had a question - since I already have Avast prior to purchasing the renewal, did it just update the program with new programs?  Thanks for your help!

That would depend on if the program version you had wasn't fully up to date, but it may simply have done an installation over the top of the existing one.

You may have noticed that the installation (or running the installation file) didn't take very long as everything was already in place.
