-= Here are what I can think of

(1) Try repairing avast installation [if failed.. Try in safe mode]
(2) Remnants of previous antivirus..? Do you have any other antivirus(es) before/alongside avast..? If yes, please run a removal tool/registry cleaner of the previous antivirus &, if you have 2 or more antiviruses, uninstall the others and leave at least 1 running [don't forget to use their respective removal tool after uninstalling]  ;)..
(3) Infection.. If (1) & (2) above does not work, try installing Malwarebytes Antimalware.. Update then have a scan..
Windows 7 (64-bit) Home Premium SP1
avast! 9 RC1

Hum, never used Vista so will ask how to go in safe mode if you dont mind ^^;

I only installed Avast there and removed the norton before there that came with it long ago, is there a specific removal tool you can mention for uninstalling?

As for infection i already scanned with malwarebytes and superantispyware, nothing detected.

Its hard to know what she did on her laptop there, the major slow login was already making me think it could be the hardware geting overheat, but doesnt seem so as after that seems runing quite ok but internet not working, only thing i didnt try yet is go on safe mode, will await you to tell me ^^;

Oh well can be embarrasing for a web developer like me not knowing this things too well yet haha, still can use the excuse i never touched Vista ^^;

Hi Otaku Ichise!

Yes, there is a removal tool for Norton.
Please download it here and run it.
After this you should uninstall avast!, run the avast! uninstall utility and newly install it.

Ok i did unninstall it properly on "Safe Mode"
installed Avast again and i still recieve this message when opening Avast:

Quote from: OS Vista Avast Error
Error basInit Library - initialization of basic library failed!
Check out INI file or install program again, please. Error:10107

I still cant conect internet on it nor can i even use the offline updates on it, cant tell if this was an hack atack or someone screw the whole system configuration.

One more conclusion = OS Vista sucks hard o.o;

So, did you already run the norton removal tool?
And did you already do point (3) of what -=Fenrir=- suggested?

Norton is far gone by ages and theres nothing there of that.

I forgot to run malwarebytes after instaling new version atlough i scaned with SuperAntiSpware already.

I will confirm it here soon but its easy to tell she will need to format Vista again lol...

If you didn't run the removal tool yet or already reinstalled the OS once you should run it, as there usually are files left from Norton...

Please download it here and run it.
