web page advisor - save search sybol?
« on: July 11, 2009, 07:45:20 PM »

all sorted thank you for the replys - brilliant

::)Hi, I have just downloaded the free 4.8 avast, having previoisly being with mcafee?
On mcafee you had a site advisor, which change from green to red if a website was considered risky.
On search it would tick each listing with green/yellow/red denoting the same as above.
It would also take out spam before it entered my inbox.
The question is, " is any of the above possible with avast 4.8 and if so would someone knidly advise how I set them up.
Thanking you in anticipation.

You can still use Site Advisor with avast. But Finjan is better than Site Advisor (http://www.finjan.com/).
WebShield will do better job than only scanning the links at search pages. You're safer than before.

For spam, you need to wait avast suite (not free) in October.
Or use Spamihilator or MailWasher.
The best things in life are free.

 :)  Hi :

For Avast to function to the highest degree, you MUST have McAfee
COMPLETELY REMOVED from your computer . In addition to "uninstalling" it
from your computer's "Add or Remove Programs", should ALSO follow McAfee's
 Recommendations available at
 http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507 .

Mcafee SiteAdvisor is near useless and they have sites listed as Green with known malware but they have not gotten around to test it and if you ask them to on their forum then it is still ignored.

I vote for Finjan SecureBrowsing:
