Exiting AVAST from system tray.
« on: May 23, 2004, 04:30:33 PM »
How can I Exit avast from the system Tray?
It says "Stop On-access Protection and Exit" But It doesn't!
The Program continues, It would seem you have to prevent it from starting in the 1st place using a start-up manager its a pain!

I am using Windows XP pro SP1 etc.

Avast seems to use rather a lot of resources and does affect my CD drive when copying and pasting MP3's from CD to "My Music" folder.

Apart from this Little Glitch This AV program seems to work Eh!

Somebody most know somebody Else at this company and have A word in there "Shell Like" and Add an exit feature that works!

Please Advise!   >:(

I think it was luck. ;D  I had the same problem as you before, I wanted to completely shut down Avast! when I played UT2004.

Aha as i expected... I build this program on WinXP and had no resources to test on Win9x. I suspect that problem is in services handling plus ashDisp.exe which is not required under Win9x (thats how Alwil guys said one day hehe). I'm not quiet sure how avast! works under Win9x :-\ but i'll try to do my best (oh boy and i released v1.1 lol)

Huh? I never had a major problem with Avast under Windows 98 SE, while
I had lock up crashes (Windows Explorer freezing then Windows ignoring user input and couldn't close any applications, thus would be required to push the reset button) with Avast under Windows XP, a little while ago.

FYI, the latest build of Avast seemed to have stopped the lock up crashes from occuring when running Avast under Windows XP

Hi..RJARRRPCGP
Avast anti virus works fine on my 98se too.Its rejzors own programme (Avast external control) that he made for us avast users that doesnt work 100% on my 98se ,as he intended it for XP , and by all accounts works perfectly on XP.
