Win 98 to Win 2000
« on: August 25, 2009, 02:48:36 AM »
I am currently running the free avast home edition under Win 98 and it is working fine.  I want to update to Win 2000.  Do I need to do anything to avast before or after this update.  Is there a different version of avast free home between Win 98 and Win 2000?  Thanks

You need to completely reinstall avast on the new OS.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

Uninstall avast on Windows 98 BEFORE you update it to Windows 2000.
Reinstall avast after you get Windows 2000 running.

OK, thanks for your answers.  I will uninstall, then reinstall.  Probably need to look at all of my programs with this same question in mind.

make a copy of ALL important documents, pictures etc. onto removable media before upgrading in case there is an issue.
