Stopped providers: how do I start them again?
« on: September 08, 2009, 01:04:27 PM »
Hi,

I stopped a couple of providers permanently (an error, only wanted them stopped temporarily, clicked the wrong thing.) Avast now tells me its running 5 out of 7 providers - but in the 'resume' menu option, I have no choice to start the two I stopped. I can't find anywhere else in settings to start them again. Help!

I'm using Avast home edition with Windows XP.

Thanks,

Dan

Click (left click) on the blue ball, you'll get a list of all providers on the left.
Select the one you want and press start.

Resume will only work for paused providers not those that are Terminated.

Left click the avast 'a' icon, that opens the On-access Protection window.
If there is a Details... >> button, click that and it will expand the window to show all providers/shields.
Select the ones you terminated and click the Start button.
Answer Yes to the persistence question.
