Thanks (or no thanks) to all the antique horror movies, "Igor" is almost permanently associated with the mad scientist's assistant, right?  And I think our Igor could quite happily live without that image.

HTTP errors are better looked up here - they're not part of Windows errors.
I believe the problem may be related to the VPS update for the beta version... Vlk may have some more info about it.

When I imagine the mad scientist's assistant, as described e.g. in Pratchett's books, I'd really rather avoid it

I'd like to try this beta, are the heuristics more advanced in it?  440 error here as well when the program tries to up.

The new update (the one having build 407 as beta) will be mostly a bugfix-release; new features are planned for avast! 4.5 (which is not this update).

I dont know of any post where the ALWIL team has hinted on it. Mabye Igor can awnser this for you.
