Internet problem after uninstal

Hey all,

Im having some really weird problem with my internet conection.

Today i uninstalled Avast , and noticed my internet wasnt working annymore.

Im running vista, and it says im connected to the internet.
Also, i can ping to all websites (router,google,this website).

I cant acces the websites with my browser, not even my router!

Can annybody tell me whats going wrong?

What did you replace Avast with?
Try running the Avast uninstall utility.

I would first turn PC off,  reset the router-modem or unplug it for 10 sec and plug it back in and turn PC back on. You might also reset IE8, by
Tools tab > Internet Options > restore Adanced Settings and Reset Internet Explorer settings, next use Ccleaner and restart PC...http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/

I tried both solutions.

I didnt replaced Avast, just uninstall. nothing else

How long after removing Avast did the failure occur?
What firewall do you use?
This could very easily be malware related, if you are surfing (trying to surf) unprotected.

Try Removing IE8 as this has trashed my internet connection on several times gone back to IE7.

I doubt i has has anything to do with IE8 unless it is set to work in Off line mode.

Go to Tools then make sure Work Offline is not selected.

Run the Internet connection wizard:

What OS, and what browsers are you using?  If it's only the browsers, it could be a proxy setting.  Did you in the past set up http protocol to Localhost 12080 as recommended for older Windows os?
