Your saying your hdd space free dropped by 10gb in 1day?
Well anyways you know how SAS is by default set to ignore non .exe files and files larger then 4mb?
I turned those features off and did a full scan. Nothing was detected but a cookie. Mbam full scan detects nothing and same with avast.
Look at this screen shotIf I right click and click properties for all files in the pic below and I add up size on disk for each files (hidden files are turned on) I get now were near the amount of space supposedly taken up on my drive. In the picture of my c:\ drive were it says 277gb used to be 281gb few days ago.
Still can't account for missing files.
So why do you (seem) to think it's malware-related?
look to other causes.
Scandisk would be a good start, I'd think.
A look at the eventviewer to see what the crashes are related to would be another good place to look. (Don't ask me to decipher the codes, though!)
I don't think it's malware related, I just want to rule that out. How would I get to event viewer?
What Is scan disk?
