Lesson learned? You still need to run anti-virus on Windows 7. Microsoft, in the Microsoft Security Intelligence Report released yesterday, stated that "The infection rate of Windows Vista SP1 was 61.9 percent less than that of Windows XP SP3."

So much for the so called secure UAC feature

Best to turn it off and save the resources since it's proving itself. Just be sure and run AV+firewall and at least two or so good malware apps such as Malwarebytes & SuperAntiSpyware and Threatfire. That should rid anyone of any potential issue/s.

well, that is because it is based on the vista kernel. There are already thousands of viruses/malware that will run under the vista kernel, so definitely there are several viruses/malware that will run on Windows 7.
