is it just me or that doing the right-click scan on specific items is not responding?

appearance i found from previous posts  by others mentions that the right-click scan apparently wont work until the computer has been restarted since avast 5's installation.

The installation or upgrade of any major program should include a restart of your computer as some components of some programs will not completely install without a restart.

This should be a standard procedure known by all.

Yes you should have been asked to restart after the update or install, see image.

You might even have to reboot a second time to get some things working properly.  As I noted in a thread over in the "main" avast category, until after I'd done two reboots after upgrading, the "scan now" tab in the interface didn't show either descriptions or start buttons for any of the predefined scans.
