NEW - Avast! for Mac release candidate 3.11 pkg (9 Aug 2010)

Couldn't install versión 3.07. The installers fails to "run preflight script"... What does it mean, and how can I avoid it?

it should run preflight just fine, nobody complained about 3.07... but anyway, it should be installed in the unshot - and present/working in applications, or not?

My fault, I downloaded the package and tried the installation again. It worked this time, so I guess it was a corrupted download or decompression.

Yes, Mail IS being used.

If Mail support is on, Mail prevents system logout.

If Mail support is off, System can logout normally.

please, inspect Mail's preferences, the "rule" section - there should be exactly one avast's line. Just delete it, and then, from avast, click mail support on/off from avast's preferences, things should go in sync.

I removed the rule, there was only one.

I then opened Avast preferences and ticked "Mail Support"

Then tried to logout, but again Mail interrupted the logout.

Another thing that I've noticed is that while the rule in Mail preferences is Active and Avast Mail Support is not ticked, all new email received is highlighted in an alarming pink colour.

I just "upgraded" from 2.74 to 3.07 last night. I do not have mail support enabled, however since installing 3.07 90% on my incoming mail is highlighted  "orange".

Guess I should check mail for that "rule" as well.

Please, make sure that the rule is there. clicking mail preferences on/off in avast's preference pane should do the job. otherwise, go to mail's preferences a nd verify whether avast's rule is there.

to be honest, the mail's support for this third-party scanning via applescript is notoriously buggy and inconsistent, and the whole feature turned into one big workaround .
especially, this adding of new rule sometimes needs mail's restart, otherwise the rule is active, but forgotten when the mail quits upon logout. strange enough, but this is how it's implemented.

we'll try to make it more bullet-proof, or at least we'll inform users about this Mail's flaw.

I searched Download.com and i seen i have to pay for avast for mac after 30 days    I don't want too. please make a free version! Plus It seems like you avast team have forgot about avast for linux and mac cause it is still Avast 4 it should be avast 6 like the windows version.
