Your servers:

http://www.tpg.com.au/helpdesk/email/express6.php?step=5

Try this setting:
In the SSL settings area (again in expert mode):
host name    protocol     port     encryption
'com.au'        pop3         995      SSL
mail.tpg.com.au   pop3         995      SSL
mail.tpg.com.au   SMTP        25        TLS

Hi,

I can send and received emails, and it would appear as though the email are scanned as it gets the message attached (when the box is checked).

I have amended my setting to those suggested (thanks).

I am not sure where tpgi.com.au came from....(it was there by default following installation).

The pop3 and smtp server names are both 'mail.tpg.com.au' (if this makes any sense)...as in your last example below '"MAIL.xxxxxxx.com".'

Hi,

Sorry, I don't understand that part... (stupid german) - please explain.

Is the problem gone now? Please attach a screenshot of the error-message. (Press "Print/SysReq" to snapshot to clipboard and paste to any e.g. MS Paint, save as jpg and attach).

You may want to delete the 'com.au' line in the servers list.

Hi Zyndstoff,

Apparently you cant attach word docs to this....shame (I just lost the reply).

The 'paint.bmp' doc was over 200kb...so I cant attach this either.
Now have attached the .jpg.

It appears from the icon popping up in the system tray added to the fact the message appears on emails when I check the 'insert message' check box (as attached)...that it is scanning.

The 'problem' initially, was simply clarification on the avast message when installing version 5, about ssl/tls in my email client.
You have clarified this, and I appreciate it.

Finally, 'com.au' was in the server list by default originally. Do I delete?

regards

Lethal

So, as I understand you:
Mails are scanned
No error messages pop up when sending/receiving mails

which means: problem solved.

Is that right?

If so, no don't delete the 'com.au'. Apparently it does no harm.

If everything is working fine (and that's how I understand your post) then: have good night in Australia.

Hi Zyndstoff,

Yes, I beilieve they are being scanned.

No error messages have ever been encountered.

Will leave the 'com.au' in the avast set up.

A 'problem' (per se) never existed  it was more clarification I sought, and thanks to you have now received.

Thanks for all the advise...and stay warm in the northern hemisphere (which I believe is a challenge at this time).

regards

Oh so true... Cold and snowy. I'm praying for spring to come asap. I'm in bad need of some sun.
