Turning Off "Update Notifications"

How do i completely turn off update notifications, a blue box that pop up informing me that virus database has been updated?  I especially do not like the sound with it. I dont see any option that let me turn off. I am sure it is somewhere. Thanks for your help! (I have basic free edition)

To turn off the sound, uncheck Settings > Sounds > Automatic update

Welcome to the forum. Personally, I like to know when there is an update but, to each his/her own.

To turn off the notification:
go to Settings / Updates / Details: Uncheck  Show Notification ........

To turn off the Sound:
go to Settings / Sounds: Unselect Enable avast! Sounds Also make sure Voiceover is not selected.

Thank you for the response. I was able to find

"avast settings" => "Sounds" => click on "Diasable Acast sounds."

That was the closest I got to according to your instructions. I did not see the exact menu yu had outlined.

In any case, it has turned off all sounds. However, I only want the blue notification sounds right after the updates turned off. I still want other sounds such as "alarming sound" when there is a possible virus attacking from a website, or if I am running the virus scan, then I want the sound on when it detects any virus informing me of the "catch."

Can you elaborate again exactly how I can ONLY turn off the notification sound and not any other.  Thanks again

In SETTINGS in the Sounds menu of all the available sounds can be enabled/disabled.  

Are you using avast! V5?

What is your operating system and Service Pack level?

Blue box was in version 4.

From the avast Settings, Updates, scroll down to the Details section and click the inverted triangle to expand the details. Uncheck the Show notification box after automatic update.
