Full System Scan in 5.0 takes along time
« on: February 26, 2010, 07:35:46 PM »
Yes I have just run a Full system scan with the new 5.0 Free Antivirus, and it took me exactly 1:50:13 to complete this scan, can anyone tell me why the scan was nearly two hours? Is that normal?
I have Vista Ultimate 64 Bit, 4.00 GB , Processor: 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz   2.39 GHZ
Avast Full System scan showed 272,092 files tested,27,687 folders tested, amount data tested: 59:62GB
(I'm giving the amount of things scanned to see if that is some huge amount that might be the reason it scanned
such along time.)
I just can't imagine why it would take so long, thats worse then defragging time..
The other avast never went that long, even the 5.0 quick scan is not that quick.
I think at the rate of a full system scan I will only do it once a month and I don't really like that cuz I like twice a month .
Also is it true that the new 5.0 no longer generates a update event in the windows antivirus log? I have not seen any events logged in since I installed the new version avast.
Thank You
