Logon Process Initialization has failed
« on: February 27, 2010, 08:27:25 PM »
Have seen a couple of threads on this forum relating to this issue, but none of the ones I saw solved my problem.
After installing Avast! Internet Security I am unable to logon to my PC other than using safe mode. Following the installation when the program asked for a restart the PC started up but at the point the logon screen should appear i got this error message instead - "Interactive Logon Process Initialization Has Failed"
The only solution so far has been to start up in safe mode, uninstall Avast 5.0 and reinstall 4.8pro.
I am running on an Alienware M17 using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I have seen others have problems with fingerprint scanners on logon. The M17 has finger print and facial recognition software for logon. Is there any chance this could be causing a problem? How do I get around this? I am not overly excited by having to disable functionality in my PC in order to make this software work.
Any help appreciated. Thanks!
