Outlook 2007 avast toolbar
« on: June 24, 2010, 11:12:59 PM »
I've read a few other threads about this and I've been experiencing this for a while.  One odd thing for me that is even though I've enabled logging my AsOutExt.log file hasnt been updated since 6/3/10.  I've attached it.

Problem 1: When I open Outlook 2007 my antispam toolbar is no longer available.  I still get **Spam** marked emails but I cant manage them.

Problem 2: AsOutExt.log is not updating.

I've tried un-registering/reregistering the asoutext.dll as well as one of the other mentioned registry fixes, but no luck.

My system:
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Intel Q9450
4gb ram
Avast - just upgraded to AIS 5.0.584 from 5.0.545
(let me know if you need more info).

try checking that the plugin is not disabled. go to Tools > Trust center > Add-ins and check whether avast antispam toolbar is listed (active / inactive / disabled ?) if it is disabled then select the disabled items dropdown and click "go". Er-enable the plugin and restart outlook. let me know how you were getting on...

Wow that did the trick!  It was listed as a plugin that caused Outlook to not function correctly.

Your help is much appreciated!

Outlook plugin seems A LOT OF MORE STABLE now in the 5.0.590 beta.
No crashes, toolbar is there, no minidumps into log folder, etc.
Worth a try the beta.
