[Fixed]Where did the scan options go ?
« on: July 26, 2010, 11:46:00 AM »
Huh, how did this happen ?

All other tabs work fine, just the scan one is acting weird. Any way to just restart the Avast GUI ?
---

Fixed by going to settings, unticked the self protect option, killed and restarted AvastUI.exe. Weird bug though  ???

PS: Yeah scanned with Hitman and MBAM before this step, just to be sure.

I will admit I have never seen that before.  Have you tried rebooting your machine to see if all is OK?

Do you have any red "X" or yellow triangle over the Avast icon in the bottom toolbar?

Try a reboot or cold boot and see what happens.

If you just install, just boot. Is it the case?

@ SafeSurf No problems signaled by the tray icon. Rebooting my machine just cuz the GUI component of the AV acts up aint my cup of tea. It's this bad habit I got from running Linux machines back in the day. I also posted the fix ;)

@Tech I'm slow this morning, care to give more details ? :)

Silviu, I don't know about fresh installations of the latest builds of ver. 5, but back when the first final-release builds came out, it was quite common for them to need 2 or even 3 reboots before everything became fully functional.  I had that same thing with the Scan tab on mine, no descriptions or "scan now" buttons, but another reboot or two fixed that.  I think that's what Tech was suggesting.
