Problem when making a defrag
« on: July 30, 2010, 12:17:10 PM »
Is that possible that Avast is making a conflict with the defrag? I'm using Puran Defrag and I never had any problems before. Now, since I have AIS whenever I try to defrag, the PC freezes completely after a couple of minutes.Anyone experience the same problem?

I use defraggler, no problems with it...
If I remember right, others run Puran, without problems...!??
Could be something else, post more info about your system...

DefenseWall HIPS (Host-based Intrusion Prevention System) is based on a sandboxing approach. The way it works is that all your programs that access the Internet are automatically marked by DefenseWall HIPS as "untrusted".

I see, thanks for the feedback. Similar to D+...
Back to your problem. Do you get any error messages..?
Are there any minidump files created..??

Hi Asyn, no error messages, no minidumps files either. The PC just freezes completely and I have to use the hard reset button (even Ctrl+Alt+Del does not work) I also tried to leave it
for a hour or more, but it does not matter it stays frozen.
I will try to deactivate AIS completely, make a defrag and see if it makes a difference...

Ok, please report back your results.
Btw, be sure you're offline while AIS is turned off...!!

I use Puran but with Avast Free with no conflicts.  I don't see how the OP's problem is related to this.  I would suggest an malware scan.

3. Yes...to both.

2. +1 As you both are on the same OS... But are you on the same Puran version..?
Interesting would be which version of puran he uses and if it's the same you use. Maybe he just needs an update..!?
3. Let's wait until he returns back here, we'll advice him what to do then. ;)
Have a nice day/night,
