ERROR report
« on: August 22, 2010, 09:17:36 AM »
After scanning a file I received 2 Error notices: ???

Error:Not enough storage space available to process this command(8) <---this is supposed to the number 8 in brackets??

How do I change this so I can scan the files before I load them onto my system?

Hi Micheal, and welcome to the forum.  :)

First I need to ask you some questions to learn more about your system:
1. What is your OS, 32 or 64-bit, RAM?
2. What version and product (Free, Pro, AIS)
of Avast are you using?  5.0.594 is the latest version.
3. What security software do you currently and previously have on your machine including antivirus (AV), firewall (FW), and other security programs (resident and on-demand)?
4. Are you current with your Avast definitions?

What were you doing prior to getting this error?
What type of scan were you trying to do?

Win 7 64, 6 Gb DDR3, 2X 500 Gb, Quad, NVIDIA 130M/1 GB, 18.5" 1080P W/BlueRay
RES: Avast! free. SpyBot S&D. Win Defender. Win firewall.
ON DEMAND: MBam.
Browser: IE (for password recovery/spam), FF (Adblock Plus[2 filter subscriptions]/TACO 3.0/Better Privacy/WOT/VT Down Loader
ALL UP TO DATE AND CURRENT

I had just finished DLing a torrent and closed off uTorrent.
I checked Avast's P2P Shield STATS for any warnings, non found.
I open up my DL folder, right clicked on the file and did a scan.
Avast! gave me the the 2 error messages.

The file contains:

INFO, Win Text Doc---6KB
Setup, Win batch file---7KB

Install Files;
Data.cf1---4,028KB
Data_files.cf2---2,448,487KB
Main.cf2---11,495KB
Sounds.cf2---1,325,342KB
Videos.cf2---367,770KB

The 2 files that avast! could not scan are:
Data_files.cf2|>Data1.pak
sounds.cf2|>7ffffff.bao

Anything more you need?

Have you tried a Custom Scan?  These files appear large; another reason to do a custom scan.

FYI: There have been users on the forum who have reported problems using Spybot SD with/without Teatimer with Avast.  If you have problems, you may either want to uninstall Spybot (which most have done) or disable Teatimer.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.  Thank you.

Never had a problem as of yet with SBS&D and Avast!

MBAM did fine (on demand) with the the whole file, no problems.

Would this have to do with the size of the VIRUS CHEST?
Increase the the file size by chance??

Do you have stuff sitting in the Virus Chest now?
Did you change the default settings (size) of the chest?

To change the size of the Virus Chest, go to GUI > Settings > Virus Chest > change the default size to zero for maximum size of chest (top box).

So MBAM came out clean.  Have you tried the Custom scan yet?

Nothing in the VIRUS CHEST, is set at default.
Will try CUSTOM SCAN, if that doesn't work will set the virus chest to zero and rescan.
Will let you know what happens.

Have you tried disabling TeaTimer?
