Oops! help! restored wrong files
« on: August 07, 2004, 05:48:18 PM »
Hi all, I was trying to sort out my chest files, and found 3 system files which were uninfected, so tried to restore them. when the box came up it said they were all ready on the system so I clicked cancel but they restored them anyway, after reading the manual (a bit late should have read it first) discovered they were backup system files made by Avast, is there any problem with this or is there a way to get them back in the "Chest" thanks for any help  ???

I think you don't have to worry about them.
If the files aren't in Chest anymore, you can add them to the User files cathegory (rightclick there and select "Add").

I must say I don't remember exactly what the files were... kernel32.dll, wsock32.dll and command.com?

Thank you igor was worried I'd have to unistall Avast didn't want to do that, the files you mentioned seem familiar so I think they must be the ones.

I don't know about WinME, but on W2k it's
not Command.com, but Winsock.dll ;)

kernel32.dll, wsock32.dll and winsock.dll are the files in XP.

Just some info:
The last two, when changed, can often be repaired with LSPFIX
