So now Avast is blocking the competition?
« on: November 04, 2010, 06:49:21 PM »
Network shield is blocking a McAfee av tool:
http://download.nai.com/products/mcafee-avert/stinger10101096.exe

Also, Avast doesn't post a message every time access is blocked, which is very annoying and very bad form.

(Avast Free 5.0.677)

Not here ???

Download works fine, no block. What is your database version?

Ok, I get blocked now...

Not sure why that happened...

I see this happen as well, but I think it is simply because you are refreshing the same link again...browse somewhere else, say here on the forum, then try again and it shows the alert.

Also, it seems only to be the latest version...

I wrote your link into Google, and when I pressed the Search button, a big red alert appeared.  :)
But the red alert is not the same as Tech's.

Hello,

reason why this site got to URL blocker wasn't blocking the competition :-) It was false positive and it is deleted now - it will be fixed in the next VPS

But in Google, avast! reports trojan as you can see in the picture what I attached in my last post.
Is it a fp, too?

That is the same detection but based on the fact that firefox pre-fetches google results...so it starts to load the first result or two to speed up the load when you eventually click the link.

@ faust,

Your problem should be resolved now after having several Avast updates, which should have fixed your problem.  Please verify.

If you feel that your issue is now resolved/fixed, please go back to the first open post in this topic, click the modify button in that Post and change the title/subject, add [Resolved] to the beginning of the title so this thread can be closed.  Thank you.
