Ps: Vik wrote me back yesterday and he said in his email that avast 5.1 final should be released less then a week.

have a great day

I heard January. Best guess...when it's ready. I wonder what has been changed and/or improved. I thought 5.0.677 was as good as it could get.

Well, if you visit other AV's support forums,
(the ones that do not delete anything that could be viewed as negative for them, thats a small thank you to Avast! for not over using their powers of censorship),
and you will find this failing often.  It is the same failing doctors have fighting disease.  They are stuck in an (almost) totally reactive system.

The other half of the problem is the end user his/herself.  But that problem has been around since long before computers.

That's for sure.

If Hexo would update his signature with system information then much better answers to what he needs to better secure his system could be provided.

Well YoKenny... i have change my signature.

That's great and I recommend WinPatrol PLUS and its one time fee permits usage on all systems.

WinPatrol Free vs PLUS:

Not really. Gdata has one of the highest detection because of using avast and the bitdefender engine but this is not the sence of the topic.
So i see, that i can use avast with a good feeling.

I have turned up my Web Shield a bit by using maximum hueristics and turning on scanning for PuP.  Have not noticed any impact on performance/browsing speed from doing so.
