Avast! and Thunderbird!
« on: August 20, 2004, 05:48:33 PM »
I tried in other topic but nobody saves me   :-\\
One more time.. hehehee

First of all, i use K9 to keep my mail box free of spam.  So , i need to change some of my configuration in TB to him understand what´s going on ... .

But (we always have a but  )  i think AVAST! does not like TB because it can´t control my accounts. I read Technical´s avast4.ini support but it didn´t work.

What i´m supposed to do?

I tried this:

[MailScanner]
DefaultPopServer=pop.mail.yahoo.com.br          (i tried it)
DefaultSmtpServer=smtp.mail.yahoo.com.br      ( i tried it)
ShowTrayIcon=1
UseDefaultSmtp=0
AutoSetProtection=1
PopListen=127.0.0.1:9999  ( i tried this one)
SmtpListen=127.0.0.1:9999  ( i tried  too )

The port 9999  is from my K9 and i need to configure my incoming server like it:

Server name = 127.0.0.1
User name = pop.mail.yahoo.com.br/110/myname
Port: 9999

And my outgoing :

Server name = smtp.mail.yahoo.com.br
User name = myname

Thanks !!!! :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-[

Many people are using both thunderbird and K9 in combination with avast. Yes there are some manual tweaks required.

A quick search on thunderbird (and K9, not necessarily in the same search) on these forums should return  some information and hopefully a solution to your problem

Glad you have resolved your problem.

The trick of the forums, is to say what you did to resolve the problem.

That way others with the same or similar problem will also find your resolution and it will help others.

Okay.  No problem . I´m using K9 with Thunderbird and AVAST!. To configure your email account you just need to use this settings:

In Account Settings / Server Settings:

Server name: 127.0.0.1
User Name: 127.0.0.1/110/username#pop.server.name
Port: 9999 (this is the port in k9)

You don´t need to change anything in SMTP configuration.

That´s it. I read this in other topic here.

Users, please, listen to David...  ;)

Yeah Technical. I listened ! :P

Bye bye !

Thanks for taking the time to post your resolution.

It really does help others using the search function to help resolve their problems.
