  This is a follow up on 4.8/5.0 with the advise received here from Team Avast/DavidR a memory issue was discovered,not really an Avast problem, after several exchanges links were supplied and with fine folks at Crucial/Micron in Boise, I received and installed a 1 GB memory stick, my machine is running better than ever, I felt it necessary to at least recommend too anyone who is considering Avast or Crucial products both are fine products and work as advertised, and this forum is great !

I'm glad that it has worked for as I suspected, extra RAM really does help in lots of areas that you might not expect (if you are low on RAM to start with). It probably represents one of the best relatively low cost system upgrades.
