[Resolved] Hooray for 5.1.874!
« on: January 06, 2011, 03:02:52 AM »
Just installed 5.1.874 and I can tell it's better than 5.0 (my opinion). I have an "Acer" laptop and I have noticed software loads faster (with no error messages after re-boot) and web pages load a lot faster. This version 5.1.874 really does rock. Now I can use 5.1...finally.

I have asked a few times, but it must be silly question because no one has told me yet. Because the update isn't available via the GUI, do you need to unistall the current buggy version of 5.1 before installing the beta update 5.1.874?

Well... a clean install is always recommended but you don't have to if you want.

As Mi KA El stated you should do a complete uninstall...re-boot...use CCleaner...then install 5.1.874. Using CCleaner helps keep the registry and HDD clean. Another good software is WinUtilities Free. Both CCleaner and WinUtilities Free can be downloaded from cnet.com. Take a look at users signatures to get a good idea on what we prefer.

I might be a lucky one WinUtilities has not adversely affected my Vista. Sorry to hear about your troubles.
