Win7+64bit+preboot+scan
« on: January 13, 2011, 02:37:28 AM »
My Avast!5 was just updated today to the v5.1.684 and there is supposed to be 'preboot scan' available, NOT.  Have rebooted into Admin access, no luck for scan; Limited User account, same thingy; Used F8 Avast would not run.  Each time I rebooted I checked in Avast to see if the preboot scan was scheduled, it was and still is scheduled.

My system is Dell Inspiron 531s AMD Athlon Dual Core Processor 2.13 MHZ 4G RAM OS Win7 64bit.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, also did a search of the website using what is in the subject as shown.

It isn't available immediately, reboot and after the next auto update it should become available and you should be able to enable/schedule it.

It is called a boot-time scan so that might have gained a better result.

DavidR,
That is strange, as it is Enabled/Scheduled at this time and I thought it would run when I restarted after a total shutdown.  Which I have done several times.  I will just leave it scheduled and await the next update.  I also see they are in beta testing on v5.1.884.

I believe that there are elements that need to be updated as there are people with 5.1.864 with 64bit OS that have used the boot-time scan. I don't have a 64bit OS so I can't speak from personal experience only what I have seen on the forums.

I have 5.1.884 on my Windows 7 system and the Boot-time Scan works great.

It would be good to update your signature like DavidR's signature instead of
