Speedy PCWill the new version recognize Avast as an AV program?
Dear Mr. Gostischa,Thank you for your email.Currently the Antivirus Monitoring feature will recognize the following Antivirus products:SYMANTECNorton Internet Security Pro 2004Norton AV Pro 2004Norton Internet Security 2003Norton AV 2003Norton AV Pro 2003Norton AV 2002MCAFEEVirusScan ASaPInternet Security 2004VirusScan 2004VirusScan Pro 2004Internet Security 2003VirusScan 7VirusScan Pro 7VirusScan Pro 6TREND MICROInternet Security 2004Pc-cillin 2003Pc-cillin 2002COMPUTER ASSOCIATESeTrust Antivirus 7eTrust EZ Antivirus 6.0eTrust EZ Antivirus 6.1eTrust EZ Antivirus 6.2Zone Labs is researching the possibility of recognizing other Antivirus programs from different vendors. If your antivirus program is not recognized by the AV monitoring feature this in no way changes the protection of the firewall or of your antivirus program. The Antivirus Monitoring feature is designed to keep your computer safe by detecting installed antivirus software products and alerting you to lapses in protection. You can think of it as a second line of defense in the event that your AV auto update feature has been disabled, ZA will notify you that there is an update available for your AV program.
The vendors you have listed are the same vendors that you originally listed when the AV monitoring feature was introduced. How long does it take for you to update your list? I know it's not rocket science. The list of AV Vendors is readily available and shouldn't be that hard to add to the monitoring feature. If you introduce such an added feature to ZA then please at least fully support it. If your intent is to not add any other vendors to the list, then at least offer a version of ZA that is only a Firewall.Thanks.
Bob,Thank you for your feedback from ZA, I am sure ZA will add Avast on their ZA monitoring list soon just give them time.Just make sure your ZA and Avast is working well.
