AV-Test.org - 4th Quarter 2010 Results

I looked up the last topics on this board and the general board and didn't find any related to this, so..

The last results of AV-Test.org was released and avast! Free Antivirus is on the list.

They tested a free antivirus against a bunch of full suites, how smart...

I think they only tested the Free Antivirus because AVAST Software wanted too like in the way the Free version is tested by AV-Comparatives.
The main goal is to compare avast! Free antivirus against a bunch of suites and see how it performs.

In my opinion, avast! haves solid results (I have to remember that the version tested is the Free one) with a good average overall. Only need to improve a little nothing on protection.. ;)
Now if you think the reverse, feel free to comment but please keep it clean.

Take another look...they tested 5.0 "not" 5.1. Doesn't av-comparatives.org run a test sometime in February 2011? It will be interesting to see how well 5.1 will do. But it does feel good to have a top of the line av. Also, avast! requested they tested the free version.

Keep up the good work.
Read the Norton symantec and seems better but would i leave avast for Norton when this in 2008/2009 was a resource hog.

can we trust these tests?
av-test  does not specify at all how it was tested. no details, whatsoever  ::)
av-comparatives  describe more how it is tested, but they only say "fast" or "very fast" without specifying what they mean by "fast"  ::)

avast! Did really well in this test put out my Norton.  Even out performed Norton in many aspects.  Performance not detection was the goal.

Keep looking as avast! was added later and doesn't at first look like it's included.

None of these tests are the end all--but they are interesting to read.
