Avast 5.1.889 blocks Firefox and Thunderbird

Since updating, and then reinstalling this program it blocks my Firefox Browser 3.613 and Thunderbird.
Turning it off lets the programs load and operate normally.
Going back in time to an older version of advast allows the programs to work.

We need a little more information to try and help.  What is your OS?  What update did you do?  What reinstall?  What is your firewall and other security software?  How did you remove the previous version-avast! removal tool from Safe mode?  Does turning off only Web Shield make the programs work?  Under settings/troubleshooting/redirect settings do your http ports list look like the attached?  Try including only 80 as a redirect port with Webshield on.

I have the same situation as mentioned here in the post, after the version was updated automatically to 5.1.889. When I disable the avast program the connection works again. When the connection is not working some pages(very few) in firefox may get some content, but they still work very badly if at all. In internet explorer I did not get any pages open.
If I turn just the web shield of, then browser works again. I tried to put in setting on port 80 in redirect settings, but that did not help either.
OS is Windows 7 and the firewall in it is active.
I have also Comodo installed on this pc.
How can you fix this?

Added info:
On the other pc I have no issues. Otherwise setup is similar, but that pc has XP on it.
I also noted that the pages that are downloaded are https pages, so regular http ones does not get downloaded. Would this be in any help for solving this issue?

With WebShield enabled are you able to get to your internet router's URL by typing the address into the Firefox Navigation toolbar?
