6.0.1000 wipes static network config and others...
« on: February 28, 2011, 11:15:36 AM »
This title's problem, also, if I try to manually check for an update, there isn't one, but it wants to restart anyway.

I'll come back with any more issues I find.

Annoyances:
I don't like the 'Like Avast' button. (Too much like the upgrade button on the free version; I'm using ISS)
Please ask for my permission to put something in the gadget bar (I won't give it/I'll un-tick the box.)

Use the customized installation instead of the default one.
You can remove/uninstall the Gadget.

My point was that at the program upgrade it didn't ask.  It just installed gadget silently and I had to remove it to get my other gadgets back.

Yeah... That's the way it happens with internal upgrades... New features are added.
For WebRep, otherwise, there is a popup question about installation or not.

Feature, or frivolity?

I err towards it being the latter.  Kaspersky is just as bad, mind you, with the adding their gadget to the gadget bar.

The Gadget is not a security tool, it's a feature.
A lot of users asked for it in avast forums.
I do not use it.
The best of avast is its highly configurability.
