(SOLVED WITH 6.0.1044)_1035/B:loop scan on file avastui.exe and hangs system.

Hi all.
After I install 6.0.1035 on the 6.0.1000, the my test system (other pc):
1) avservice.exe action a infinite loop scan of the avastUI.exe;
2) the AvastSvc use most cpu;
3) after, the system hang.
Is impossible use the osrbang.exe or a other program for create the dump of memory.
I reinstalled the 6.0.1000.
And now?

Obviously some program keeps opening the AvastUi.exe file. Someone reported here that e.g. PC Tools firewall can be doing this. Do you have PC Tools firewall installed? (or any other 3rd party firewall)?

Yeah, get something like Process Monitor and find out what's opening AvastUI.exe all the time.

It seems from your signature and post that you are now using Avast Pro 6.0.1035

I have never used Avast Pro so maybe the directory path for AvastUI.exe shown in your picture is different than it is for AIS 6.0.1035

Here is the directory path for AvastUI.exe on my computer.  Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\AvastUI.exe

I am not sure why you would have the directory path for the AvastUI.exe in 6.0.1035 shown in your picture.

Does someone know if the directory path shown in the picture is correct?

I would also do search of your HDD to see if you have more than one copy of AvastUI.exe

ok, here's a good solution:
download unlocker v1.9.0
go to the file location , in your case avastui.exe (as mentioned in the reply above me)
press right click > unlocker
and you will see which file executes avastui.exe + you will be able to unlock the file whenever you need to or any other file you want to unlock!

It depends on clean install of v6 vs. upgrade from v5. Has nothing to do with the issue at hand otherwise.

I suggest to delete remains of old Avast! 5 version. Or try to repair avast!
isn't this part on your computer? Program files\Alwil software... ?

Why are you even suggesting uninstalling?!  The path is normal after upgrade from v5 to v6.

Yeah, you need to choose the avast version (from 4 to 6).
You'll need to reinstall version 6 after that, most probably (not tested personally).

2. It is a multi version uninstaller, but you select which version to uninstall, it doesn't uninstall versions at once.

As doktornotor mentions, an update from avast 5 to avast 6 rather than a clean install will retain some of the old data/registry locations as it is too big a job trying to change all the registry entries. A clean install of avast 6 is in c:\Program Files\AVAST Software\Avast\ otherwise it would be c:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\

Yeah avast! 6 dir is in AVAST software, but avast! 4/5 in ALWIL software
