A much easier way to work around compatibility checks: Add-on Compatibility Reporter  ;)

yeah, or globally adding a no check string in about:config ;)

Yeah, that to. A howto:

Go to about:config
Right click anywhere on the page and select New -> Boolean
Put extensions.checkCompatibility.4.0 as the string name.
Set the value to false
Restart.

only if you got tens of reported incompatible extensions, to avoid modifying each xpi individually. If not, then don't do it ;)

I won't be downloading it any time soon, I'm waiting a while to let most add-ons to be updated so they are compatible with FF4.

Hi Dave, if you stay with 3.6.x, be sure to update to 3.6.16...!!!

Thanks, I have updated my main system to Firefox 4.0 and done my usual individual hack (rather than global) to get four of my essential add-ons to work, the rest I can wait to catch up.

My other netbook is using firefox 3.6.16 no rush for FF4 on that and I will wait the add-on compatibility on that one before updating.

Installed FF4 on my netbook and it's working great. I love the extra space that i got when they got rid of status bar and pushed tabs up to the window title bar.

I have to say that I gained nothing with the location of the tabs and  as there were other toolbars between that and the actual page it looked really weird, disjointed.

So I set it back to normal and there is zero space saved or lost in my use of firefox and for the tabs being above the actual pages, just looks right and not disconnected. Didn't see any option to have them in the Title bar and again I feel that would look just as disjointed.

It is Nuvola 1.9.9 a compact theme and one of the few that work whit FF4 that aren't gaudy or buggy.

I just couldn't live with the butt ugly FF4 default theme. Why do they always do that, spoil the job for a penny worth of tar. When they are doing this kind of upgrade they really should spend some time on how it will look (cr*p) with the default theme.

I can't wait for my preferred theme to be compatible.

Firefox 4 had reached the 10 million download mark a few minutes ago with ~79000 downloads per minute
Not bad for 2 days, I should say.
