Hi,
is there any other antivirus that doesn't have resident protection and is not system invasive?
And it should not interfere with avast.
Any recommended solutions?

Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware are just Scanners in the free version...I use SpyShelter, It is Protection against Anti Keyloggers, and all kinds of Trojans...Nothing goes by Unnoticed By SpyShelter, It creates software rules also which can be annoying at first...but it is easilly set up and can be adjusted, and make easy changes...Just open all the software programs you use, and re-start all services and set it to ASK...At first keep it at lowest possible setting cause it will block your computer from starting up.. No footprint at all, and very small download.......Works awesome with Avast and PC Tools Firewall...
  Cheers!!! and safe surfing!!!

Love Malware Bytes as well,

If you use Avast, you don't need the full-time protection for $25.  But use MB as an On-Demand scanner, if Avast does find something.  You must update MB each time before running it in the free version.  But it is worth it.

Always run Full Scans in MB for best results.

+3  but technically speaking, Malwarebytes is not an AV product. It's an excellent detection and removal tool for the newer waves of malware. It will not detect older things that true AV programs have developed detection for. I would also point out that even the head of MBAM says that a quick scan should be all you need to do since they update the locations to scan in along with the definitions.

Not true!

For the one time price you get the ability for hourly updates with immediate Flash scan and the ability to run daily Quick scans!

I really don't think MBAM is worth paying for. The free edition is more than sufficient.

I too would recommend Malwarebytes, though it is not an AV, and won't detect classic stuff that AVs do.

BitDefender also has a free version that is only on-demand, so it may work with a resident antivirus.

There is also Dr.Web's CureIt! which will work with another AV, but you have to download a new version as it has no update feature, probably because you don't need to install it.

I just don't like two always on resident shields competing with each other.  Now if MB was finding things in the free version, I might say, yea, upgrade.  But the only things that MB has ever found when I scan were 2 little tracking cookies on the first install since I have had Avast on the machine.  To me, that means Avast is doing a SUPER job!

PS Just about to do my monthly scans now!

Perfect,

I did a full scan with PUP check for Avast and an update/full scan with MBAM.

Clean as a hospital!

MBAM does not scan for cookies!  ::)
MBAM does scan for malware that can get past avast!
