RS doesn't detect Eicar when written from editor

Hi,

Avast4 (updated: 4.0.235; VPS 25.7.03)
on W2k-SP4 - HDD:  C = NTFS, D = FAT32

When I paste the eicar-string into editor(Notepad) and save this as eicar.com (filetype: all files), avast doesn't give a beep.. (explorer-settings of course set to show everything)

only when i try to open/execute eicar.com, does the RS step in.. !!!

Although i have set scanning on write AND OPEN for the standard-extensions..

Is that just  my problem, or a bug (like the ZIP-scan and Ram.extraction stuff earlier) ?? ;)

You have to activate this option:

On-access protestion control (right click on the tray icon) -> Details -> Standard Shield -> Customize -> Scanner (advanced) -> Scan created / modified files

Hi Kaleus, of course i have set this ..
see above (scan on write..)

Hi Raman,
the RS warns already when I open the relevant dir in Explorer,
BUT NOT when I save it there from Notepad)
 ???

still don't see, why my avast RS doesn't detect eicar.com, when I specifically told it so..
well, maybe I'll just wait for the new update.. ;)

I'm afraid you are right, technical... it doesn't work for me either.
I guess we'll have to wait for vlk to fix it...  :(
