Add the file(C:\Program Files\The KMPlayer\KMPlayer.exe) to sandbox exclusions. Just follow the numbers in the picture.

1. Goto Autosandbox.
2. Click Settings.
3. Browse for C:\Program Files\The KMPlayer\KMPlayer.exe
4. Make sure it is in the field.
5. Click OK.

Next time you open KMPlayer, autosandbox shouldn't be triggered.

Interesting post.

The same thing is happening for me when I try to update flash in IE.  I inadvertently sandboxed it, and now it will not update.

The thing is, I don't see a program name anywhere in the sandbox settings of Avast.  Do you happen to know what adobe uses to update flash in IE so that I can maybe setup an exclusion or delete it?

Thanks.

Trooper,

There are 2 ways from stopping avast to sandbox a file.

1. Add exclusions(For executables which you open often) and
2. To select open normally(Helpful for files which you open only once - for example setup files) (See pic on how to open normally)

So, I suggest you use the second option as you are trying to update it from a file which you will execute only once.

Thanks but it seems that I am unable to do that.  I can see the adobe updater starting to install (but it never completes).  I opened Avast and since I already inadvertently told it to sandbox, nothing appears or pops up for me to revert these settings.

How can I fix this?

Hope my post is clearer now.

Thanks again.

What version of avast do you use?

AIS or PRO or FREE?

Is it the auto update which is trying to install?

Yes its just the Auto Updater for Adobe flash for IE9.

What mode is autosandbox set to? (See pic to find out)

If it is in auto mode, set it to ask and Click OK. Try running the updater again.

Also,
Can you post the log of autosandbox? You can find it in the c:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\log (Windows 7)

Search for autosandbox.log in windows xp. I don't know the path. (It should be in the document settings parent folder)

Hi,

Its set to ask. I think I found the culprit in the log file, but of course I am unable to now find this file on my machine since it was a temp file.

5/9/2011 11:17:13 AM   Autosandbox candidate: C:\Users\me\AppData\Local\Temp\IDC2.tmp\getPlusPlus_Adobe_reg.exe
   [Source: http://platformdl.adobe.com/NOS/getPlusPlus/1.6/gp.cab]
   [Opened by: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEInstal.exe]
--> Result: Sandboxing (based on user's decision).

So ever since I sandboxed it, its unable to install.

It should not auto sandbox. I mean, even though you have selected it to sandbox, it should only do it once. The next time, it should ask you again. I can't understand why it doesn't ask you again. Or are you selecting to sandbox it when it asks you to update?

Can you clear your temp files? Please download TFC from here : http://oldtimer.geekstogo.com/TFC.exe and run it, let it run(Explorer will close when you run) unhindered, reboot. Please save all work before running the tool and close all applications.

Ive tried everything under the sun and for some reason, it will not install.  This is on a fresh install of Windows 7 to boot.  I reset IE9 to default settings, uninstalled everything flash on the pc, ran your tool and rebooted.  It still does not install.

I never had this until I accidentally sandboxed it the first time.  For some reason the Adobe Download Manager just will not install on this machine.  Really strange.

Can you install it from the stand alone installer?

Download the flash uninstaller from here: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player.exe

Exit all applications which might use flash: IE, Instant messengers etc. And run the uninstaller.

Then install using the standalone setups:

IE version: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player_ax.exe

Other browsers: http://fpdownload.adobe.com/get/flashplayer/current/install_flash_player.exe
