Hey MPG,
First let me say welcome to the forum. Before I can answer your question I need to know some information from you.

1. What is telling you  that you have a virus?

2. What Operating System are you running?

3. What is the path of this virus? I need the full path name.

4. What programs are you running on your PC such as Anitivirus Software, Software to deal w/ SPYWARE, Security Software such as Firewall?

Once you answer the above questions I should be able to help you.

Do you use Avast4 or Avast32?

I remember in Avast32 was a setting that kept warning at each boot although the virus was deleted.
