Took hours to get malware to run enough to disable the malware. I did a system restore and Avast locked up for good. Removed Avast and reinstalled the free version and tried to load my license. Next to impossible with my skill set. Even had the license emailed to me. About given up. Is there away to get a refund for the rest of my purchase or should I just move on?

I don't think I would blame Avast.More the XP security Virus.Take a look here on how to get rid of it properly. If that gets rid of it and you still have problems post back.Link to remove XP security below.

Thank you for your response. I'am running Malwarebytes again just to make sure and will load and run  Secunia when that is done. I was not blaming Avast just have not been able to load my license # do to lack of skill. I have tried cut and paste to no avail. Tried to source the file and load it thru Avast. I will keep at it.

Hello bob3160, I am running 6.0 the free version, I looked at one of your other threads and it talked of loading the license off line which looks like the answer. I will post when I have done it. Heading to work now. Thank you for your time.
