Email problem

Since installing avast I have been unable to use the send as, under file. Any ideas what might be causing this.

Well just saying something isn't working is not much to go on. Please provide more details like:

- What version of Avast?
- What vps version?
- What OS (including service packs)?
- What Avast settings?
- Any errors in Avast's log file?
- Any errors in the system log?
- Any errors in the event log?
- What happens if you try? Getting an error? If so which exact one?
- All other things that can be relevant....

Can you send email normally through your email client?

What email client due you use?

Is the "Send as" function you mention the SEND function that appears under File in Internet Explorer?

I am using outlook express, which is working well, and the file is the one that appears whenever you are online. Hope this helps I am what you would say a little computer illeterate.

Techie101, fyi "send as" is one of the options in applications like MS-Word, it is under the file menu.

Benji, don't worry. We are gonna do everything we can to pull you through this. ;)

I have used OE for longer than I care to remember and have never seen a Send As function.

In OE you have a default account that would normally be used to send emails. To temporarily change the default email account/sender (Send As a different account), when you are composing/writing the email check the Top of the email for the From: window, it will show the default email account address, to the right of that you will see a small down arrow,  clicking on that will display other accounts that you could use.

Try to do what it is you are calling Send As and jot down what it is that you are doing because there isn't enough information to identify your problem.
