Title says most of it.... wife gets bad links from time to time and the FakeAV screens pop up.

What is the right thing to do to avoid infection ?  Dont click anything? Crach reboot?

Also, just got this this morning with a fully up to date Avast free 6.

Thanks

Dont click anything?
Correct.

Try killing the browser from the task manager.

Thanks... I crashed it and restarted in safe mode and ran MBAM just in case.  I noticed the Avast was disabled and I couldnt restart it.   Is that the result of safe mode or did the Fake AV thing disable Avast ?

Yes, in safe mode Avast! does not run.  If all goes well in normal running, you are likely ok.
