windows genuine ?
« on: July 06, 2011, 09:10:00 AM »
We just updated avast when suggested,  then shortly afterwards  windows requested we let it check that our software was genuine..."Windows 7"  after the check it gives the message our software is not legal.  we have removed windows and installed Linux.

We bought the laptop in the US last year from Best Buy  all legal .
we are now using it in the UK..  could that be a reason or could the Avast update have been the cause?

Thanks for any advice  as we are now being asked to update Avast on our windows 7 desktop.

If all is legal, I would tend to think then that in Windows Seven all it is needed is to revalidate. Vista might be a different story.

Anyway, you are using Linux now so...
